Call for papers - Symposium Platonicum XII Plato’s Parmenides Paris, July 15th-20th 2019   The International Plato Society organizes a symposium on a single Platonic dialogue every three years. We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the XII Symposium Platonicum: Plato’s Parmenides. The Symposium will take place July 15–20, 2019, in Paris. Although the dialogue has been the object of intense scholarly scrutiny, many issues remain to be explored. Submissions on any aspect of the dialogue, including its presocratic sources as well as later reception, will be considered. We also would like to encourage papers that address issues in the dialogue’s second half since it has received relatively less attention. We welcome abstracts from all IPS members, full and associate. International Plato Society Best Dissertation on Plato “Conrado Eggers Lan” Prize Call for submissions Conrado Eggers Lan was Ancient Philosophy Professor at the Universities of Buenos Aires, Heidelberg and Autónoma de México (UNAM). Co-founder of the International Plato Society and host of the First Symposium Platonicum held in Mexico City in 1986. In accordance with its mission to promote Platonic studies throughout the world as well as communication between scholars of diverse disciplines working on Plato and the publication of books and series on Plato, the International Plato Society is glad to announce the 2nd edition of the Conrado Eggers Lan Prize for outstanding dissertations in the field of Platonic studies. The 2nd Asia Regional Meeting of the International Plato Society International Conference “Forming the Soul: Plato and his Opponents”   This conference will be the first academic activity of the International Plato Society taking place in Taiwan (and in the Chinese-speaking world). Call for Papers : Plato’s heritage in historical perspective: intellectual transformations and new research strategies (St. Petersburg, August 28th-30th 2018)

The International Plato Society (IPS) is pleased to announce the colloquium “Plato’s heritage in historical perspective: intellectual transformations and new research strategies”, which will take place in St. Petersburg, Russia on the 28th and 30th of August 2018. The colloquium will serve as a platform for the IPS Executive Committee’s mid-term meeting. The study of Plato’s heritage is a way of diagnosing modernity - in so far as it is made explicit in philosophical discourse. This is precisely why intellectual transformations and new research strategies are relevant themes for both international and Russian Plato studies. We propose the following topics for the colloquium: The history of Plato interpretation as an element of the evolution of European culture. Different periods and tendencies of interpretive programs.
